Hibiscus Foster Care Program Introduction

100+ children in our community are in critical need
of a loving home …
You can help! Be (or recruit) a foster parent

As a leader in the provision of child welfare services on the Treasure Coast, Hibiscus has been involved in the evolution of community-based care since its inception. In addition to its wide array of prevention and intervention services, Hibiscus received the Foster Care Recruitment and Training contract from the Florida Department of Children and Families in 2001. With over 400 children in our district - Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, and Okeechobee counties in critical need of a loving home, Hibiscus has become a leader in recruiting and training prospective families.

Hibiscus has developed a district-wide MAPP Training Program offering classes year-round and in four counties during evening and days. This start-up program focuses on homes for teenagers and sibling groups. This program, although still young, is diligently moving forward to accomplish the critical goal and finding safe homes for the children in our community who desperately need them.

In fiscal year 2007 United For Families awarded Hibiscus Foster Care Program with the foster care support services contract for the district. Even after parents are licensed, we have ongoing in-home team support to help foster families thrive long after their training has ended.
